Topping the maple
The upper portion of the maple next to the barn had been shedding branches for the last year. It was time for some elective surgery.

How to assemble the CLINE folding hiking pole
Просмотров 6733 года назад
As a compact, lightweight alternative to my regular 58-inch dogwood sapling walking stick, I purchased this CLINE folding hiking pole. I noticed a number of questions online about how to assemble it, so I decided to make this how-to video. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them here.

Dangerous Norway maple toppled without incident

This towering Norway maple had been dying in stages for years. Once it started dropping heavy branches on the roof, I knew it was time for it to go. Pete Thomas and his crew did a great job.

Well done! I am in Sweden and tried several times to contact Felco. Never worked. I attempted to offer to stock their secateurs. Their communication and distribution is about as bad as it could get. Looks like another example of a quality product made in Europe that will disappear. There are some aspects of logistics Felco can blame on China, but the non-existent communication with new customers and distributors is solely due to leadership choices within Felco. This left me contacting some custom tool manufacturers. I could end becoming a competitor.
Other than your concluding entrepreneurial vision, that's a pretty sad account. My experience, as I explained in the video and a couple of my replies to comments, has been the exact opposite. I'm pretty easy to find on the Internet, and if you'd care to send me an email, I'd be glad to offer a bit more detail.
@@heartpursuer Maybe email at some point. Have you done a video on Gardena? New as of the past year, Gardena secateurs are stated to be made in Germany. That is what is actually on the shelves throughout Scandinavia (Clas Ohlson, Plantagen, etc). Half the price of Felco. Quality unknown to me. I was born in the south of Europe (now 60). Parents used Felco, so I am simply used to having that around. I finally bought a Felco 6 from Clas Ohlson, online order only (not stocked). Not the model I wanted, but only relevant model sold. I have projects next weekend. One can discuss waiting until 60 to purchase any secateur.
@@deewells1965 The Felco® review was a one-off, and now that I'm disabled, I won't be making any more.
@@heartpursuer I appreciate your input. I wish you the very best in managing your disability.

What a great song...
I think you just pull out the tab in between the 2 straps to loosen, but it is very stiff and won't budge for me. I suspect I might need pliers! I can't see any other possibility. It's been raining here all day too!
I finally had a chance to fiddle around with the wrist strap. For whatever reason, it was really easy to adjust. All it took was pulling the short strip to shorten the strap. As far as making it larger, it was factory set at the max.
Very helpful, would you be able to tell me how to make the wrist strap larger?
The stick is out in the car and it's raining cats and dogs, so I'll have to check later and let you know. Of course my memory ain't what it used to be. haha

Lisa is a liar about what went down in Eddystone. She fails to mention her brother John and my father Frank and how John Burnofsky was the real deal Broker to buy into the franchise and purchase the land on 202 when there wasn’t even a road their yet. Michael then convinced Lisa to force John out of the company so he could have full control. Otto was the only honest hard working man in that whole company and he made people very wealthy who didn’t lift a finger or deserves it. This celebration is nothing more then a lie and contribution to self absorption.
Love this video but please nix the music! Annoying! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the kind comment, Wendy. I love George Shearing, which of course is why I chose this piece to help draw the narrative together. I was hoping to check out your uploads. Any coming soon?

Yeesh, it's as if he expected God to extend His right hand down to anoint him as Emperor of the United States, while simultaneously incinerating Obama and Soros to ash with His left. What a joke.
That's a lot of bile to be harboring eleven years after the fact. My heart goes out to you. I can't speak to what Glenn's expectations were, but there was nothing in what he said that supports your comments. In the spirit of the season, I encourage you to watch the videos I posted, opening your mind and heart as you do. I'll be praying for a Christmas miracle. Seriously.
@@heartpursuer I watched another vid about Beck about an hour ago and this was brought to mind. Haven't seen this since I watched it live. I don't dwell on the man, never found him very interesting or insightful, just a bit pompous and self-important. It's fine that you got something out of this...but I don't, and didn't at the time either. Nevertheless, have a good Christmas and any prayer is appreciated. EDIT: A side note: if this event was instrumental in helping our veterans and their families, then it was definitely worth it, whatever I think of its content.
@@MelancoliaI I appreciate your hat tip regarding the rally's success in raising a huge sum in support of our vets. I also appreciate your softened tone, very much in the spirit of the season. Speaking of which, I often found myself put off a bit at Glenn's tone. As with #45, however, I focused on his many altruistic accomplishments, and forgave the rest. As Paul said, I am the chief among sinners.
Two maids?
Having domestic help, on either a daily, weekly, or live-in basis, wasn't all that unusual for the time. As you can probably tell, we had two generations in our shore home during the summer, so there was a cook, employed by my grandparents, and a maid/nanny, retained by my parents. They were lovely young women, as I remember them. Now I'm pretty sure that sort of staffing tends to exist only in the homes of the very wealthy.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work on tiled walls unless they happen to be using tiles that are sized to exactly fit the spacing of the grab bar cups. So, unless you're building your surround after getting the cups, they may be totally unusable as they can't span the grout seams.
Thanks, Judi, you're entirely correct, and having recently upgraded the bathroom in the video to include wet-bed tiles on the surround, I'm finding the grab bar useful but not 100% reliable. I'm able to attach one end quite securely in the middle of a tile with no seam overlap. The other end, unfortunately, spans the grout seam and holds the suction for just a short time. Bottom line, it's fine for helping me keep my balance, but I would not trust it to remain secure if I pulled on it with my full weight. Thanks again for watching the video and commenting. Hope you enjoyed it.
You do have a great voice like the other commenter mentioned. And I really like this review (found searching for Felco #6 review). I think that you could do a bunch of videos regarding the maintenance of your property and the day-to-day aspects with the plants (shrubs, etc) or seasonal changes. The pics looked fantastic! I would love to see more. Many of us look for real content on real properties for inspiration. My only recommendation would be to only put the music on the intro or ending. Looking forward to seeing more. From a newbie gardener in Canada :)
Love your enthusiasm and encouragement! Unfortunately, the ongoing effects of Lyme Disease have made property maintenance a challenge. Things I used to love to do are now just not possible. As Sinatra sang so effectively, that's life. But as the opportunities present themselves, I'm still hoping to do more product reviews. As far as the music running throughout, I understand your point -- and suspect you're not alone in your preference. For my part, I just love that Shearing piece; it helps create the atmosphere or tone I was going for. The fact is, picking a soundtrack is often the first decision I make when coming up with a video. Thanks for watching -- and best of luck as you develop your passion for gardening and/or general property maintenance. It has brought me a lot of fulfilling challenges for over 50 years.
Beautiful footage
Thanks! That was just before the war when 16 mm Kodacolor was still available. In my opinion, it was the finest film stock in the world. Such deep, rich colors, even after it had been transferred to VHS tape!
Very clear instructions. Friendly delivery in voice. Nicely paced.
Too kind. Many thanks for the feedback -- and the gift card that made it possible.

...and your kind comment gave me a great reason to listen to it again. Hard to believe I posted it over 11 years ago!
Do you find the rolling handle on the #12 to be worthwhile? If you still have both pruners, which one is your "go to" pair?
Great question. I like them both -- and keep them on different floors of the barn, for easy access depending on whether I'm working on the shrubs in the front of the house or the rear. The rolling handle felt like a bit of a novelty in the beginning, but now I quite like it. At this point, I frankly don't have a favorite, which I guess is not as helpful as you'd hoped. The upside is that, in my opinion, you can't really go wrong. If I were forced to choose, I'd go with the rolling handle. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@heartpursuer Thank you, Gary, for asking the question. And thank you, John, for answering. I was wondering this exact thing.
